On
top of more than 18+ years of design experience,
Dawn is well versed in technology strategy
issues and brings a well-rounded view of
user interface and design management to
her work. She has extensive experience
with start-ups and in design consulting
and previously owned her own design studio,
Marlow & I Advertising Design in Charleston,
South Carolina. She moved to Boston, MA
at the start of the Internet boom. Her
start-up experience includes serving as
Creative Director at Open Ratings during
its launch. She managed the Open Ratings'
in-house creative team, which was tasked
with establishing the brand of a company
that was dependent upon reputation - both
its own and for the businesses in its ratings
database. She oversaw soup-to-nut design,
including web, physical space, visual representation
of the product, advertising, trade shows,
and working with the development team to
transform functional specifications into
successful, working models.
Prior to Open Ratings, she was the Lead
Art Director for Youthstream Media Networks'
acclaimed community site, mybytes.com,
a personalized, full-service Internet hub
for colleges and their students. As a Senior
Designer at Synergy Network, Dawn helped
facilitate the company's first move into
designing for the web. She brought knowledge
of web marketing, user interface design
and training to add to the firms' service
offerings.
Currently Dawn is working as a consultant
focusing on matching her client's business
needs with long-term marketing and design
strategies. She works closely with clients
throughout every phase of a project and
ensures that overall business objectives
are met. In addition to being a successful
entrepreneur for more than ten years,
she has worked with a range of established
organizations which include: Black Duck
Software, Inc., OATSystems, PsionUSA, Isocurve,
Optaros Inc., YouthStream Media Networks,
LeadAmerica, the Swiss House for Advanced
Research and Education, and Dana Farber
Cancer Institute.
Dawn has taught for eight years at several
colleges: Emerson College, The Persons
School of Marlboro College, The New England
Institute of Art and the Art Institute
of Denver. She taught web design at Marlboro
College's Graduate program, in Emerson
College's certificate program she taught
Design, Information Architecture and HTML
and at The New England Institute of Art
she taught Information Design, Macromedia
Dreamweaver, Adobe Photoshop and the final
Capstone course in Web Development. While
at NEiA she built upon the Web Site Development
course by developing and deploying the
Advanced Web Development program. Most recently, Dawn has written web development course curricula for the New England College of Business' upcoming online masters program in Digital Marketing.
She received her early formal training
in graphic design by earning her B.F.A.
at Savannah College of Art and Design,
and built on her skills by earning an M.S.
in Internet Strategy Management at The
Marlboro College Graduate School. She
currently resides in Denver, Colorado. |
